The D-Day invasion took place on June 6 1944 on the territory of Germany. This battle was one of the bloodiest battles during World War II. This battle opened the second front to germans war against the French. This battle was also know as Normandy Invasion. This invasion was led by U.S army General Dwight D. Eisenhower, assault phase with the code-name Neptune. This attack took a long time to think out and get this plan to work to be able to push out Adolf Hitler and the German army. This battle took many supplies and men to be able to fight against the German on their own land. Before we entered in this battle we sent in three paratroopers and see what the Germans were up to and see were there weakest point was to attack. This attack was called operation overlord and was a very thought out plan to attack Germany and took less then a year to plan to push Germany out of the war. This operation was largest air, land and sea operation, the had 5,000 ships and 10,000 airplanes and over 150,000 soldiers fighting for their countries. After this war was over the allied forces had over 10,000 casualties and around 4,000 soldiers dead. During this attack the allied forces keep sending men in all around france to keep Germany from moving anywhere but their own land and pushed them all the way back to Germany and stop them from expanding there land and gain more materials and supplies to be able to become stronger and able to fight longer in World War II. The first phase started on June 6 and the second phase was launched on July 24 and the battle came to a complete end on September 1, and the Allied force won this battle and defeated Hitler and his German army.Sources:
